Be a Volunteer
"Many hands make light work." - John Heywood (1497-1580).
Volunteering plays a big role in the success of the Iowa Academy of Science. As a 501 (c) (3) educational non-profit organization the Academy provides opportunities for its members to join with other Iowans to advance science in Iowa. A small staff handles the daily operations of the organization but it is the membership that provides much of the expertise for Academy activities. From the Board of Directors to committees, section leadership, and numerous volunteers who assist with running events and programs the Academy provides a way for members to promote science as a way to improve lives.
Would you like to be a volunteer for the Academy? Some tasks require that you be an IAS member, others do not. Below you will find a list of suggested opportunities. Please check each item that interests you. We will be happy to provide more information. There is no obligation when you check the boxes below - you may always decline with no questions asked. We try to match volunteers to opportunities they would enjoy.
